  7. Hi from Russia! :)
You've had quite a PR on russian livejournal.com top page (somebody posted a link to Your site), so You should expect some comments from here :)

Yes, it's a problem here in Russia as well. I don't know what do these people have instead of their brain... but surely nothing useful :) Some people even print big stickers "I park like an idiot" and stick them on such cars.

Can You call some road-traffic services to evacute such cars somewhere else? It would be quite a surprise for the owner, when he steps out of the shop :)

    Cheers!

    1. Because the parking lots of shops are usually private property, these people who park badly can't be given tickets or be otherwised punished unless specifically requested by the shopkeepers. And I guess they don't want to do that to their customers. So it's a nuisance we just have to accept.

  11. Guys, I'm Russian and I always (no matter what) parking my car only where it's allowed! I feel so sick when I see people-with-no-brain like this... I guess almost everyone in Finland hates Russians because of people who park their cars this way. Sometimes even I feel uncomfortable when locals understand that I'm from Russia though I'm not doing anything wrong.
Please forgive us for the assholes like these and try to believe that not everyone in Russia is that bad:)

    1. Hey birka,

I'm sure most of us understand that it is a small minority causing the problems. And I think the problem only exists in the towns near border with high amounts of tourists, like the one I live in.

    2. Hi Jessie,
Unfortunately, that behavior of Russian drivers extended far beyond the border towns in Finland...
2 days ago I returned from the trip to your country and I saw the similar in Helsinki.

In Russia everything is even worse, almost everyone parks and drives as he (or she) wants. Everytime when I come to Finland I enjoy driving and hope that someday in Russia people will behave humanly.

The Russians contribute a lot of money to Finnish economy

    1. For some reasons Finns do not stream over the border to buy anything or "contribute a lot or little money" unless there are reckless individuals bent on taking a horror tour.

So there is a big discrepancy why do Soviets come over the border and spend dough in whatever locales usually devoid of anything worth seeing or buying - but just not in Russia, why millions leave Russia, why billions are being taken out of the country and every official of medium rank never mind the big fish secured for himself, the spouse and their despicable offspring residence permits in the EU and bought some real estate for the future, and the reason why there is no cultural reciprocity or why people flee is best illustrated by the images posted by the author of this blog.

  15. Well, what if at some point the parking place was just full of cars and that was the only spot available. So, after cars on the right and on the left left, then it feels like that person parked his/her car like an ass-whole. Due to huge amount of cars you can find such situations for example at Ideapark/Tampere or Lielahti/Tampere.

  16. I spend most of my life in the USA, Austria, France, Czech Republic, Germany and I'd say it is a problem that is unique to large urban locales in the Russian Federation, not even to other Soviet Republcs say those in the Baltics or not even in smaller cities in the Russian Federation people won't park like that unless it is a local official or someone who wants to show that he can. And if you'd look at the type of the car usually parked, it would be something black, grey, Japanese, German, a sedan, an SUV, the vehicles are also specific, certain makes resurface, and it is because those people show who they are and they display their their hatred and disrespect by the way their park - on in Russia itself they way drive or behave. It is a cultural phenomenon, not lack of parking skills.

  17. I agree with the comments above.
I'm Russian too, and I'm ashamed of my stupid compatriots on this photos.

Especially for those who parked on the special places for the disabled.

Evacuation of the car and penalty (in between 200-500 euros) will be nice lesson. I vote for momentally evacuation of that cars (and in Russia too!)

    PS: Sorry for my English.

  19. It seems to be that russians are completely dumb or then only blind, therefore they shouldn't even be driving if they don't see the clear white lines on a parkinglot.

  20. This situation unpleasant of course. The Russian tourists who keep the rules well are not marked, but violators is visible well always. I live in Murmansk and we sometimes have in our hotel guests from Finland who get drunk so mush and behave so beastly. I think they never did it in home. But we understand they are not reflect all Finland people. The stupidity have not nationality.
